On Tuesday, golf legend Tiger Woods revealed that he was recovering from surgery to repair a torn Achilles.
“As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured,” Woods posted. on social media “This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon.”
Dr. Stucken confirmed the surgery went well but Tiger is out indefinitely as he recovers from the major procedure.
It comes a month before the Masters, which is the first major championship of the season.
The normal recovery time for athletes is 4 to 6 months, which would effectively end his 2025 season. He had committed to play in the 2025 Genesis Invitational, which he hosts annually, but he declined after the passing of his mother, Kultida Woods, on February 4th of this year.
He has been seen at the inaugural TGL season, which is the simulator golf league he has co-created with Rory McIlroy, so it appears that he’ll be lingering around the sport while he recovers.
Best of luck to Tiger on a speed recovery
