The Eagles Crush Chiefs’ Three-Peat Dream In Dominant Super Bowl Win

The Eagles beat up the Chiefs, 40-22.

All of the hype and talk around Super Bowl LIX was about the Chiefs winning a historic third straight Super Bowl and whether Patrick Mahomes would surpass Tom Brady as the GOAT with a three-peat.

Well, the Eagles heard that chatter and crushed it all with a dominant 40-22 win on Sunday night.

The defensive line pressured and hounded Mahomes all night, sacking him six times and forcing a fumble, all without a single blitz. They also forced him into two interceptions, one of which was returned by rookie Cooper Dejean for a pick-six.

What a way for the 22-year-old corner back to celebrate his birthday.

Offensively, Jalen Hurts led the way after the Chiefs stacked the box against Saquon Barkley.

But Hurts was more than up to the task, throwing for 221 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT while rushing for 72 yards and 1 TDs. His 293 total yards and 3 TD performance earned him Super Bowl LIX MVP honors, and rightfully so.

Saquon, although contained on the ground, still amassed 97 total yards (57 rushing, 40 receiving) and got his first Super Bowl ring.

The Chiefs refused to let Saquon beat them and dared Hurts to lead the charge, and he was more than up to the task.

In the Super Bowl rematch between the two teams, Hurts outplayed Mahomes once again, as the latter had a bad game, throwing for 257 yards with 3 TDs and 2 INTs.

Mahomes’ passing touchdowns came late in the game when it was essentially over in the third quarter. The Eagles led 24-0 at halftime and never looked back.

Now, while the Chiefs will wonder “What if?” all spring and summer, the Eagles will celebrate the victory over the same time.
