Spurs’ De’Aaron Fox Out For Year With Season-Ending Finger Surgery

The Spurs lose both All-Stars for the rest of the season.

On Thursday, it was announced that Spurs’ star guard De’Aaron Fox was done for the year due to season-ending surgery to take care of a finger injury.

ESPN’s Shams Charania broke the news about Fox.

“San Antonio Spurs star De’Aaron Fox will undergo season-ending surgery on Tuesday for tendon damage in his left pinkie, sources tell ESPN,” posted Shams on Twitter/X.

Fox was traded to San Antonio in February, giving the team an All-Star to pair with rising superstar, Victor Wembanyama.

In 17 games with the Spurs, Fox was averaging 19.7 ppg, under the 25 ppg he was averaging with the Sacramento Kings this season. But his assists went up from 6.1 to 6.8.

After losing Wemby for the season after the All-Star game due to a shoulder injury, the Spurs have suffered another blow to their other All-Star with Fox’s finger. That leaves rookie Stephon Castile, who almost won the Dunk Contest, as its main bright spot.

But once both Wemby and Fox return next season in good health, they should be a duo to be reckoned with.
