On Monday, the Buffalo Bills fired head coach Sean McDermott.
The rather surprising news comes after the Bills fell short in overtime of the divisional round to the Denver Broncos, 33-30.
Owner Terry Pegula told the press why he made the coaching change.
“Sean has done an admiral job leading our football team for the past nine seasons. But I feel we are In need of a new structure within our leadership to give this organization the best opportunity to take our team to the next level…” (NOTE: the team has been made fun of for using “admiral” instead of “admirable”).
Under McDermott the Bills had record of 98-50 with a 8-8 postseason record. McDermott also led Buffalo to 5 straight AFC East titles between 2020 and 2024.
Although they had tremendous success under Sean McDermott during his tenure, the Bills failed to reach and capture a Super Bowl.
Buffalo now joins Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Arizona, Las Vegas and Cleveland as teams in search of a new head coach this off-season.
And Sean McDermott will be a hot commodity during the 2026 coaching search.
