MMA Star Jon “Bones” Jones Retires From UFC

The future Hall of Famer shocked everyone with the news.

On Saturday afternoon, Jon “Bones” Jones, one of the greatest fighters in MMA history, retired from the UFC at age 37.

It was a surprising announcement from the former light heavyweight and heavyweight champion, especially after such an amazing, Hall of Fame worthy career.

Jones had a record of 28-1, his only loss coming after a controversial disqualification against Matt Hamill at The Ultimate Fighter finale in 2009.

He first ran through the light heavyweight division before moving up to heavyweight in 2023, where, after a three-year layoff, he claimed the vacant title after a submission win over Ciryl Gane.

But after defending his title against Stipe Miocic in November 2024, Jones stayed out of the Octagon, confusing and frustrating MMA fans who wanted to see the champion back in action.

After the news, UFC President Dana White announced Tom Aspinall as the new UFC heavyweight champion.

Jones, who became one of the youngest champions in UFC history, finishes his career at 28-1 with 11 T/KOs and 7 submissions.
