Major Trades Go Down In The NBA Before The Deadline

Luka for AD set things off.

On Sunday morning, NBA fans on the East Coast woke up to major trade news as the Mavericks traded Luka Doncic to the Lakers for Anthony Davis.

On Sunday night, another major trade went down between three teams as the Sacramento Kings sent Da’Aaron Fox to the Spurs, Chicago sent Zach LaVine to the Kings and the Kings received draft compensation.

It was a shocking day that changed the landscape and futures of the teams involved.

For the Mavericks, it provides the team with major rim protection and gives Kyrie a great front-court option to pair with in Davis. For LeBron and the Lakers, it’s a mixed message. While they get one of the bright young stars in the game who can run the show, it was a move that, reportedly, LeBron knew nothing about and found out about while he was eating out with the family after beating the Knicks at MSG.

The trade also left many wondering about the relationship between Luka and the Mavs. There were always questions surrounding his conditioning, but there were no questions about his talent.

But to trade a young star like that, especially one that was a cornerstone of the team, immediately raises eyebrows.

While the NBA community debated the ins and outs of that trade all day on Sunday, another debate erupted later on after the Kings, Bulls and Spurs got together to move players around.

In addition to the star players moving, the Bulls will receive Kevin Huerter, Zach Collins and Tre Jones, Jordan McLaughlin heads to the Spurs and the Kings will receive three first-round draft picks.

The trade deadline is this Thursday, February 6th and the biggest question is what will happen to Jimmy Butler.

We have four days to find out.
