But the NFL MVP is a regular season award, so the Ravens’ playoff disappointments should not hamper his chances.
Lamar Jackson put out another great season this year, proving once again that he is a viable MVP candidate every year.
Although many say that Josh Allen should win it this year, or that Saquon Barkley deserves more consideration for the MVP, Jackson has done everything to show his elite worth.
The Ravens QB and 2x NFL MVP had 4,172 total yards with 41 TDs and only 4 INTs. He was also recently named First-Team All-Pro, which many feel is a clear indication that he will win his third MVP.
He has experienced postseason disappointment and frustration during his NFL career, failing to make the Super Bowl even once.
To be fair, Josh Allen has just as much right to win his first MVP award this season. He threw for 3,731 yards with 28 TDs and 6 INTs. He also rushed for 531 yards and 12 TDs while leading Buffalo to a 13-4 record.
But stats and wins matter, and Lamar has bested Allen in both, leading the Ravens to a 12-5 record.
While we won’t know who wins for a few weeks, one thing is for certain.
Lamar Jackson is a generational talent who had a season that should demand he wins his third NFL MVP.
