Jets Make Sauce Gardner Highest Paid CB In NFL HistoryNFL

Sauce edges out Stingley Jr in annual pay.

Only a day after opening up their checkbook to give receiver Garrett Wilson a four-year, $130 million extension, the Jets kept the checkbook open to make star Sauce Gardner the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.

On Tuesday, the Jets and Gardner agreed on a massive and historic four-year, $120.4 million contract extension.

Sauce’s new deal also includes $85.653 million guaranteed, which is similar to the $90 million guaranteed in Wilson’s contract.

The 2x All-Pro’s new salary of $30.1 million per year passes the $30 million annual salary the Houston Texans are paying star cornerback Derek Stingley Jr, who signed a three-year, $90 million contract extension this past March.

The two have much in common. Not only are they the two highest-paid corners in the league, but they are both 2022 draft picks with Stingley (3rd) taken one spot ahead of Gardner (4th).

The Jets have rewarded their star defender who mad it clear he wants to be in NY.

“I want to change the organization,” said Gardner. “I want to be a part of changing the organization.”

And he did by getting them to make NFL history.
