It took 18 hours but the Los Angeles Dodgers ultimately pulled off an impressive victory over the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 in a marathon of a Game 3 of the 2025 World Series.
This contest tied the longest game inning wise as the matchup lasted 18 innings and took over 6 hours long, ending at almost 3am ET after starting at 8am ET.
The Dodgers were led by superstar Shohei Ohtani, who made history by becoming the first player in MLB history to get on base 9 times in a postseason game. He would also score three times with two timely home runs.
And there was Freddie Freeman, who hit the walk-off home run in the 18th inning to finally give LA the win.
This marks the second walk off homer by Freeman in the World Series as he cements his name in the history books once again.
While the Dodgers are favored to win the series, Toronto can’t be discounted despite being down 2-1. And no matter what happens in Game 5 Friday night, the series heads back to Toronto for Games 6 and 7.
The Dodgers are seeing to become the first back to back champion since 2000, while the Blue Jays are aiming to win their first World Series crown since 1993.
That could happen as the team has stars like Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Alejandro Kirk, and Eric Lauer, who kept Toronto in Game 3.
Guerrero Jr. would score twice in this matchup, Kirk would hit a three-run home run in the 4th inning that gave his team the lead.
Lauer was the final key factor as he pitched almost 5 innings in the extra period in which he gave up zero scores and gave his team a chance.
In the end it wasn’t enough as Freddie Freeman walked it off with a home run late in the 18th inning.
Now the attention shifts to Game 4 on Tuesday night.
