Less than 24 hours before the start of Detroit’s 2025 season, ESPN reports that the Lions and Jameson Williams have agreed on a 3-year extension worth up to $83 million.
It’s a major deal for Williams, who will begin his fourth year in the league Sunday.
The Lions, who traded up 20 spots in the 2022 NFL Draft to select Williams 12th overall, expect big things from Williams, who is coming off of his first 1,000 yard receiving season, one in which he became a deep-ball threat and snagged 7 TDs.
“As you come in, I felt like I was getting used in certain ways, but now, it’s opening up the doors for coaches to use me in different ways,” Williams said during Thursday’s practice. “So it’s a lot more ways I’m being used, and I just locked in on everything.”
The Lions are hoping that Williams becomes WR #2 to All-Pro Amon-Ra St. Brown.
The Lions face the Packers and newly acquired game wrecker Micah Parsons in Green Bay on Sunday afternoon.
