Mavs Shut Down Cooper Flagg For Remainder Of Summer League

Dallas is protecting their franchise pick.

In just his second summer league game, No.1 pick Cooper Flagg puts on an epic show by going off for 31 points.

The college star scored 31 of the 69 points for his team on 10-21 shooting from the floor.

This amazing performance comes after a subpar game against the Los Angeles Lakers in which Flagg only scored 10 points on 5-21 shooting.

“I think I did a lot better today, just getting to the line, getting fouled, and that helped me to get comfortable and get settled in early,” said Flagg when questioned about his performance in his second matchup against the Spurs.

But unfortunately for Summer League fans, the Mavericks have decided to shut Flagg down for the remainder of the team’s Summer League games.

The former Duke phenom has a unique and raw skillset, and at 6’9, he can impact the game in various ways.

The number one overall pick from this year’s NBA Draft must be protected, especially after trading away Luka Dončić, so shutting down their future franchise player for the summer is probably a great choice.
