Celtics Trade Jrue Holiday To Portland For Anfernee Simons And Picks

A good move but the Celtics need to do more.

The Boston Celtics are acquiring Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks from the Portland Trail Blazers in a trade for veteran guard, Jrue Holiday.

This is a great move for the Celtics as they add a 25-year-old player with tremendous upside. This past season, Simons averaged 19.3ppg, 4.8 apg and 2.7 rpg.

Simons can bring elite scoring and great spacing to the Celtics offense. This will be very beneficial to the organization as they will be without their superstar, Jayson Tatum for a significant part of the upcoming season.

Unloading Jrue Holiday saved the Celtics money as they look to avoid the luxury tax, but there are more moves the Celtics need to make to retool their roster and the tax.

When looking at the Trail Blazers, the team acquired a proven veteran and great two-way player who can help develop and guide some of the young talent in Portland.

Both teams seem to walk away happy from the deal as the Celtics get younger and better on offense and Portland gets more experienced and better on defense.
