On Sunday afternoon, the LA Chargers’ Keenan Allen made history by becoming the fastest receiver in NFL history to reach 1,000 receptions.
Allen, who returned to the Chargers this season after one year with the Chicago Bears, reached the milestone in 159 games. passing Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison, who accomplished the feat in 167 games.
Now in his 13th season, Allen spent his first 11 years with the San Diego/LA Chargers, where he became a 6x Pro Bowler and had five seasons of 100 receptions or more.
Heading into Sunday’s game against the Commanders, Allen had 998 career catches and broke the record with a 4-yard reception in the second quarter of the game, which LA lost, 27-10.
Allen finished the day with 5 receptions for 58 yards and now has 11,563 career receiving yards on 1,003 receptions.
