Cowboys Trade Micah Parsons To Green Bay Packers

A stunning move before the start of the season.

After heated discussions and a contract negotiation that made little progress, the Cowboys traded Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two first-round picks and Pro Bowler DT Kenny Clark.

In 2021 Parsons was selected by the Cowboys with the 12th pick in the NFL Draft and he paid immediate dividends by becoming a Pro Bowlers in each of his four seasons in Dallas.

Parsons also had 12 or more sacks in each of his four seasons. The only other player to do that is Hall of Famer Reggie White, one of the greatest and most dominant players in NFL history.

After the trade, the Packers were willing to do what Dallas wasn’t, which was give him a monster deal and one that was favorable to him, which turned out to be a 4-year, $188 million contract with $136 million in guarantees.

That made him the highest paid non-QB in NFL history.

“I never wanted this chapter to end, but not everything was in my control. My heart has always been here, and still is…” wrote Parsons in a post on IG.

Dallas now has four first round picks over the next two years, but Cowboys fans are angry that it cost them the dominant Parsons.

As for Green Bay, adding an elite pass rusher and game wrecker to an already stout defense immediately makes the Packers a serious NFC Super Bowl contender.
