The Baltimore Ravens have signed cornerback Jaire Alexander to a one-year deal worth $4 million with incentives that could push the deal to $6 million.
Alexander, 28, is a two-time pro bowler who was drafted with the 18th pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. He played all seven seasons with the team.
Despite multiple teams looking to acquire Alexander, he landed in Baltimore thanks to former Louisville teammate Lamar Jackson, who pushed Ravens management to sign him.
This is a great fit for the Ravens as they add Alexander to an already stacked secondary that includes Nate Wiggins, Marlon Humphrey, Kyle Hamilton, and Malaki Starks.
At one point, Alexander was regarded as one of the best cornerbacks in the league, but the past two seasons have hurt that narrative as he’s only played in seven games each season due to injuries.
But the Ravens aren’t worried and signed the veteran, who will likely start opposite of Nate Wiggins.
After falling short in the playoffs last season, Baltimore needed to add more weapons.
And by adding Alexander and players like Deandre Hopkins, the Ravens are looking forward to a trip to the Super Bowl.
