Nick Chubb Signs Deal With Houston Texans

Chubb returns after another injury-marred season.

Longtime Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has found a new home in Houston with the Texans.

Chubb, who played with the Browns for seven seasons, has signed a one-year deal worth, according to NFL’s Network’s Ian Rapoport, at least $2.5 million and up to $5 million depending on incentives and goals.

Chubb passed a physical and signed the deal on Monday.

He joins Joe Mixon, who was the Texans primary running back last year and the only back who did anything in the run game for the team last season.

Chubb is coming off of another season marred by injury.

Last season, he played in eight games, rushing for only 332 yards and 3 TDs before breaking his foot and missing the remainder of the season.

In 2023, he underwent procedures to repair his medial capsule, meniscus, ACL and MCL in his left knee. That was the same knee in which he tore his MCL, LCL and PCL in a 2015 injury during his college career at Georgia.

But when healthy, Chubb is one of the better backs in the NFL, including three seasons with 1,000+ rushing yards and one season with over 1,500 yards rushing (2022- 1,525 yards).
