Washington Commanders Trade With 49ers For Deebo Samuel

Washington gets a steal.

On Saturday evening, the Washington Commanders announced that they were acquiring 49ers receiver Deebo Samuels for a fifth-round draft pick.

The trade of Samuel wasn’t surprising, as the 49ers gave him permission to seek out a new team.

But getting a talent like Samuel for only a fifth-rounder feels like a steal.

Deebo spent all six years of his NFL career with the 49ers, averaging 56 receptions, 798.7 yards and 3.7 TDs per season. But he also spent time in the backfield as a running back, where he averaged 190.5 yards and 3.3 TDs per season. He was also named to the Pro Bowl in 2021.

Now he will be paired with rising superstar QB Jayden Daniels and 2x Pro Bowl receiver Terry McLaurin on a team that went to the NFC Conference Championship in Daniels’ first season under center.

The trade can’t be made official until March 12th when free agency begins.
