NBA To Explore Expansion Opportunities In Vegas And Seattle

Two cities deserving of NBA teams.

After several years of speculation and rumors, NBA expansion appears to finally be a reality, for two cities in particular at least.

The NBA board and its governors recently decided to explore expansion bids to teams in both Las Vegas and Seattle, with the winning bids expected to be in the range of $7 to $10 billion for each team.

The idea of the league expanding from 30 to 32 teams is great for various reasons, especially for the league’s finances, the fans and the future and current NBA team owners, the latter which will share in the windfall created by the bids.

Expanding to these two areas also aims to attract new and previous fans in this case.

Adding a team in Las Vegas will be a huge gain for the NBA as Las Vegas is a massive entertainment hub and, while the Aces of the WNBA call the city home, its an untapped place for the NBA. This would create new fans locally and to attract tourists.

As for fans in Seattle, it would fill the void left in their hearts after the Supersonics left for Oklahoma City in 2008.

With plans to expand the NBA is focused on their future and it appears they have the right vision with these two cities.
